On Saturday this past weekend, March 28, 2015, Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Association (COPMOBA) organized a rock training day through Volunteers of Colorado (VOC). This was a great opportunity for me to give back to the community and the trails in Grand Junction, CO, the home of world class mountain biking and numerous outdoor activities. This rock training was provided to train new leaders to lead future trail work days. Twelve of us from all over Colorado (Dolores, Grand Junction, Durango, and Denver) showed up , raring to do some tough work and learn some trail / rock building skills. It was amazing to see so many people from out of town to come all this way for some trail building skill training! We’re very excited for many more trails to be built all around Colorado, especially in Grand Junction.

We mostly worked on forming rock wall paths for the new trail, the Time Machine Memorial Trail. Time Machine is being built in honor of Tim Sewell, a local rider full of passion who passed away a couple of years ago. The rock wall paths are the foundation of the trail so the trail builders will come back April 11 and 12, 2015 to tie them together. They were built to allow riders cross drainages smoothly and to allow water cross the path without much damage to the surrounding terrain. If you’re interested in participating in this fun opportunity, please check out their facebook event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/705229076241105/. COPMOBA is a non-profit organization that is proudly supported by Mountain Khakis as well. It’s been fun being surrounded by numerous of Mountain Khaki support in the Grand Valley! Thank you Mountain Khakis for being a big part of our Valley and my events, Mountain and Desert (MAD) Racing!
